The Opportunity:
The Demand Planner is responsible for developing accurate, data-driven sales forecasts and inventory replenishment plans that ensure product availability while minimizing excess stock and write-offs across the NSW/QLD branch network.
This role drives the forecasting process, collaborating with Sales, Procurement, and the Inventory Analyst to continuously refine demand signals, balance service levels, and optimize stock holdings.
The Demand Planner plays a pivotal role in bridging commercial objectives with operational execution and supports decision-making in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) forums.
What does my day to day look like?
- Develop rolling 3–12-month demand forecasts using historical sales trends, seasonality, promotions, and market intelligence.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to understand pipeline activity, customer behaviour, and promotional impact on demand.
- Adjust and refine forecasts regularly based on demand shifts, business intelligence, and real-time sales data.
- Partner with the Inventory Analyst to analyse data and stock trends.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and drive root cause analysis for forecast variances.
- Suggest changes to planning parameters based on evolving stock health and supply chain performance.
- Support Procurement in ensuring supplier orders match forecasted needs and prevent overstock situations.
- Work closely with the Inventory Analyst to create a closed feedback loop between actual performance and predictive planning.
- Balance service level targets against working capital objectives.
- Flag forecast risks to the Regional Supply Chain Manager and recommend mitigating actions.
- Participate actively in stock clearance and rationalisation planning.
- Prepare and present monthly demand forecast reports, highlighting variances, risks, and corrective actions.
- Utilize Power BI, Excel, and ERP systems to produce clear and actionable planning dashboards.
- Support ad hoc reporting and data requests for executive and operational decision-making.
What you will bring to the role:
- Strong analytical mindset with advanced Excel and data visualization capabilities (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- High attention to detail, structured thinking, and numerical fluency.
- Clear and diplomatic communicator across commercial and operational teams.
- Proficient in forecasting and inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle, DSX, or equivalent).
- Comfortable working under a structured, process-driven leadership style (Specialist-type manager).
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 3+ years in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain coordination.
- Familiarity with S&OP processes and best practices.
- Experience in multi-branch, distribution or wholesale environments preferred.
- APICS CPIM or Demand Planning certification desirable.
